About the
Artist

A fifth generation native of West Marin County, California, Teresa Madsen has had
a love for art and drawing ever since she was given her
first box of crayons. In 1998 Teresa started her own
business and has succeeded as an independent graphic artist.
Inspired by the beauty of the Marin landscape after
returning home for a visit, she made the decision to focus on her love of
painting.
Largely self taught, Teresa paints in oils and is passionate
about painting, "It is absolute joy, time stands still when
I have my easel in front of me." Teresa mainly uses her own
photography as her references, although she paints en' plein
air when the opportunity presents itself. In her paintings,
she strives to convey the way that she feels about the
places she loves. Her desire is to enable the viewer of her
work to experience the beauty of the places she finds
irresistible.
Artistic influences:
To develop
my knowledge and skills, I study the writings and works of
Scott
Christensen, Ian Roberts,
Marc Hanson,
Mian Situ,
Richard Schmid and John F. Carlson to name just a few. I
am influenced and inspired by the California Plein Air
Impressionists of the early 20th century and the beauty of the
California landscape.
